Bell & Gossett Series PD Pump

Bell & Gossett Series PD Pump

Water system and proper water supply for any area or place is the most vital factor. Without water no work can be done and neither a person can survive. And it is important to understand the importance of pumps in getting proper water supply. Thus the need is of a best quality provider.

We, the Bell & Gossett provide an entire range of booster pumps for applications requiring higher flow and head pressures. The designs of these pumps are based on three-part configuration which gives full field reparability and compact construction. For quiet and efficient operation, all Bell & Gossett boosters are equipped with the incomparable B&G manufactured motor.

We have an expertise in our Positive Displacement Pump, commonly called the PD Pump. A Positive Displacement Pump, or simply the PD Pump, operates against closed discharge valves and continues to produce flow until the pressure in the discharge line is increased and the line bursts or the pump is severely damaged. Sometimes both these mishaps can occurs. A relief or safety valve on the discharge side of the Positive Displacement Pump is absolute necessary.

  • Constant flow machines- Without focusing on the discharge pressure, Positive displacement pumps, unlike roto-dynamic or centrifugal pumps, can theoretically produce the same flow at a given speed. Thus, Positive Displacement pumps can be said to be constant flow machines. But, it should be noticed that a slight increase in internal leakage as the pressure increases prevents a truly constant flow rate.
  • No Operation against closed valve-Unlike Centrifugal pump, a Positive Displacement pump has no shutoff head and hence it must not operate against a closed valve on the discharge side of the pump. A Positive Displacement pump operating against a closed discharge valve continues to produce flow and the pressure in the discharge line increases until the line bursts, the pump is severely damaged.
  • Need of relief or safety valve-This is absolutely necessary on the discharge side of the positive displacement pump. The relief valve can be internal or external. The pump manufacturer normally has the option to supply internal relief or safety valves. Increased safety is provided by the internal valve is usually only used as a safety precaution while an external relief valve in the discharge line with a return line back to the suction line.

A Positive Displacement pump can be further classified according to the mechanism used to move the fluid:

Rotary-type Positive Displacement: It’s features are the following:-

  • Internal gear
  • Screw
  • Shuttle block
  • Flexible or sliding vane
  • Circumferential piston
  • Flexible impeller
  • Helical twisted roots like the Wendelkolben pump or liquid ring pumps

Reciprocating-type Positive Displacement: Piston or Diaphragm pumps

Linear-type Positive Displacement: Rope pumps and Chain Pumps

We have a wide operational limit of our pumps. The pumps that we design are fabricated to pump liquids compatible with their iron or bronze body construction. This pump line delivers maximum capacities from 100 GPM to 150 GPM. Unless special provisions have been made by Bell & Gossett, we do not exceed the value of our limits for the specific pumps. The operational limits for Series 2½”, LD3, HD3, PD35, PD37, PD38 and PD40 Pumps continue to be as the following list:-

  • Max. Working Pressure: 125 psi
  • Max. Operating Temperature: 225ºF
  • Electrical Rating:
    • 115/230V, 60 Hz, 1PH
    • 208-230/460V, 60 Hz, 3PH
    • 115V or 230V, 60 Hz, 1PH (¼ HP only)
  • Motors with special electrical characteristics are available on request.

The use and applications of the Bell & Gossett PD Pumps are varied. These applications may be summed up as follows:-

  • Hydronic heating and cooling systems-This denotes transportation of heat by circulating water for cooling or heating system. We provide pumps for these purposes.
  • Domestic water- Bell & Gossett provides pumps for water transportation in domestic spheres. Here the need of pumps are very much felt and we provide the best pumps for the purpose.
  • Industrial applications- In various industries water in huge quantity has to be transported for industrial purposes. This purpose requires specially build hardy pumps which will serve properly for long. We have attained an expertise is providing the pumps for industrial uses and purposes as well.
  • General Service operations- The Bell & Gossett pumps are the best for all the general service operations executed.
  • Pumping potable water.Potable water, also known asdrinking wateror improveddrinking water, iswatersafe enough for drinkingand food preparation. Bell & Gossett recommends that bronze constructed pumps be used for pumping potable water.
