Bell & Gossett Series e-80: A revolution in the centrifugal pump category

Centrifugal water pumps are employed all over the globe to transfer different types of liquids from one place to another. And they are the most common type of pumps for commercial use.

Many different sectors use the centrifugal pumps for different reasons depending on its use in the industry. For example: dairy farmers employ these pumps to keep their goods at the appropriate temperatures; electrical companies employ centrifugal pumps to generate energy etc.

Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pumps are a revolution in the centrifugal pump category. Since the e-80 pumps are primed there is no need to immerse them to move water. The e-80 pumps are vertical inline pumps and are said to be of great use in Hydronic heating and cooling systems, light industrial processes and for general service.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • The e-80 pumps are split-coupled in-line and have a single-stage design which enables its installation in a vertical position, which allows the motor to be serviced without messing or moving the pipelines.
  • Pump volute is made up of Class 30 cast iron which provides excellent hydraulic functioning.
  • The impeller is made of stainless steel which makes it resistant to chemical corrosion.
  • The grouping of motor bracket and volute cover plate delivers a circular alignment of the motor to the pump casing.
  • The mechanical seal has a small Rotating Unitized Seal Head structure which allows a quick and simple seal replacement.
  • The external flush line includes a manual valve to take out air from the seal chamber to allow the liquid to cool at the seal which produces a speedy start-up.
  • The carbon steel pump shaft makes the pump resistant severe corrosion resistance.
  • Antimonium filled carbon graphite throttle bushing provide an extended life cycle.
  • The e-80 is available in sizes ranging from 1-1/2 inches to 14 inches with impellers ranging from 7-1/2 inches to 14 inches. The e-80 can power up to 60 horsepower (HP) while the e-80 split can power up to125HP.

Advantages of the Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pumps

  • Motor is manufactured as per IEC or NEMA specifications with hard-wearing grease-lubricated ball bearings, which it totally adept to work with maximum load.
  • Each pump is factory tested and complies with Hydraulic Institute guidelines.
  • It has a Patent-Pending Shaft Jacking Coupling.
  • It requires less maintenance.
  • It comes with optional Flange mounting supports.
  • It is small in size and can be moved and carried around comfortably.
  • They are powerful, strong and are available at an affordable price.
  • Can efficiently work with mud and dirt.
  • Can handle large volume of fluids.

How they work

Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pump works on the principle of converting driver energy to kinetic energy in a liquid by rushing the fluid to the outer edge of an impeller. The amount of energy given to the liquid is directly proportional to the velocity at the edge of the impeller. The quicker the impeller rotates then the advanced the velocity of the liquid at the tip and the greater the energy transferred to the liquid. In simple terms, the rotation moves the liquid from its access point through the casing, and finally to the outlet.

The biggest advantage of Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pump is its ability to move different fluids. Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pump can also be used for moving sewage and even chemicals like petroleum.

The main disadvantage of a centrifugal pump was that it had to be immersed in water to move it but the Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pump is primed which makes it a convenient centrifugal pump.

For most household or light industrial uses, the Bell & Gossett Series e-80 pump is an excellent choice. These pumps are flexible and require less storage.
